The Vosburg Camino was created from a deep love for the Karoo and a wish to share its timeless beauty with others. More than just a hiking trail, it’s an invitation to slow down, reconnect with nature, and experience the authentic hospitality of this remarkable region.

The Story Behind the Vosburg Camino

The idea for the Vosburg Camino began with two friends, Ruda and Elna, who share a deep love for walking and the great outdoors. Elna grew up on a farm near Vosburg and has always carried the Karoo in her heart, and together these two close friends completed numerous long-distance walks, including several 100km journeys.

It was during one of their training hikes that the idea sparked:

What if we could create a trail in the Karoo, one that celebrates its peace, its beauty, and the people who call it home?

From that moment, the Vosburg Camino began to take shape; a trail built with love, friendship, and a shared dream. Both Ruda and Elna are married with children, and their families have supported their vision to bring the unique magic of the Karoo to fellow walkers from near and far.
