Our Story
The Vosburg Camino was born from friendship, a shared passion, and deep love for the Karoo.
Founders Ruda and Elna are friends who have explored countless trails together. Both are drawn to the quiet rhythm of nature and the peace that comes from walking long distances.
Elna grew up on a farm near Vosburg, where the vast skies, quiet roads, and rugged beauty of the Karoo became part of her identity. Her connection to the Karoo runs deep - it’s where her roots, memories, and sense of peace lie.
A qualified Nature Conservationist and Tourist Guide, Ruda has spent years leading groups through some of Southern Africa’s most remarkable destinations. Her parents instilled a deep love for nature and travel, shaping a career dedicated to helping others experience the beauty and stories of her country.
It was during one of their training walks that the idea for the Vosburg Camino was born:
What if we could create a trail in the Karoo - one that celebrates its peace, its people, and its beauty?
With the support of their families - both are married with children -they turned that idea into reality. Partnering with local farmers, they built a trail that combines breathtaking scenery, authentic farm hospitality, and the stillness the Karoo is known for.
